Among other things, TU Dortmund University is the initiator and coordinator of two drug discovery initiatives, Center for Integrated Drug Discovery (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ziw.tu-dortmund.de\/cms\/de\/Home\/\">ZIW<\/a>) and Drug Discovery Hub Dortmund (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ddhdortmund.de\/\">DDHD<\/a>), which emerged from the Science Master Plan 1.0 and are anchored in the scientific competence field of biomedicine and drug discovery. The research is carried out in close cooperation with physicians, chemists and structural biologists and can be substantiated by joint, scientifically high-ranking publications, third-party funding and successful commercialization models (licenses and spin-offs). The Dortmund start-up companies PearlRiver Bio GmbH and Serengen GmbH are examples of this. In addition, with the Center for Entrepreneurship &amp; Transfer (<a href=\"https:\/\/cet.tu-dortmund.de\/\">CET<\/a>), TU Dortmund University has an Excellence Start-up Center.NRW that has received an award from the NRW Ministry of Economics. In line with the scientific guiding theme &#8222;From Molecules to Humans&#8220;, the institute pursues an interdisciplinary research approach at the interface of structural biology, molecular cell biology and chemical biology, bringing about a unique liaison between chemistry and biology. The scientific concept aims at a holistic understanding of the dynamics of the interwoven reaction networks in somatic cells. By identifying and synthesizing near-natural drug substances, intracellular processes can be modulated with pinpoint accuracy, and reactions in living cells can be monitored using state-of-the-art imaging techniques. The aim is to advance personalized medicine. With its four-dimensional analytical methods, ISAS contributes to improving the prevention, early diagnosis and therapy of diseases. To this end, the institute combines expertise from chemistry, biology, physics as well as informatics and uses, for example, multi-method approaches that combine complex data on proteins (proteomics), lipids (lipidomics) and degradation products (metabolomics) to provide a comprehensive overview of disease-relevant processes in the body. The aim is to derive fundamental principles for the design of the modern working environment from the research results, which serve to maintain and promote performance, health and competitiveness. It develops lead structures and therapeutic antibodies according to the highest industry standards, in cooperation with academic partners, whose efficacy has been demonstrated in disease-relevant model systems. Die TU Dortmund ist u.a. Initiator und Koordinator der Wirkstoffforschungsinitiativen, <b>Zentrum f\u00fcr Integrierte Wirkstoffforschung<\/b> <b>(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ziw.tu-dortmund.de\/cms\/de\/Home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ZIW<\/a>)<\/b> und <b>Drug Discovery Hub Dortmund (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ddhdortmund.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">DDHD<\/a>)<\/b>, die aus dem Masterplan Wissenschaft 1.0 hervorgegangen und im wissenschaftlichen Kompetenzfeld Biomedizin und Wirkstoffforschung verankert sind. Die Forschungen erfolgen in enger Zusammenarbeit mit Mediziner*innen, Chemiker*innen und Strukturbiolog*innen und lassen sich durch gemeinsame, wissenschaftlich hochrangige Publikationen, Drittmittel und erfolgreiche Kommerzialisierungsmodelle (Lizenzen und Ausgr\u00fcndungen) belastbar belegen. Exemplarisch seien hier die Dortmunder Start-up Unternehmen<b> <\/b>PearlRiver Bio GmbH und Serengen GmbH genannt. Zudem verf\u00fcgt die TU Dortmund mit dem <b>Centrum f\u00fcr Entrepreneurship & Transfer (<a href=\"https:\/\/cet.tu-dortmund.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CET<\/a>)<\/b> \u00fcber ein vom NRW-Wirtschaftsministerium ausgezeichnetes Exzellenz Start-up Center.NRW. Gem\u00e4\u00df dem wissenschaftlichen Leitthema \u201eVom Molek\u00fcl zum Menschen\u201c verfolgt das Institut an der Schnittstelle von Strukturbiologie, molekularer Zellbiologie und chemischer Biologie einen interdisziplin\u00e4ren Forschungsansatz, der eine einzigartige Liaison zwischen Chemie und Biologie herbeif\u00fchrt. Das wissenschaftliche Konzept zielt auf ein ganzheitliches Verst\u00e4ndnis der Dynamik der in den K\u00f6rperzellen miteinander verwobenen Reaktionsnetzwerke ab. \u00dcber die Identifizierung und Synthese naturnaher Wirkstoffsubstanzen k\u00f6nnen intrazellul\u00e4re Prozesse zielgenau moduliert und die Reaktionen in lebenden Zellen mit modernsten bildgebenden Verfahren verfolgt werden. Ziel ist es, die personalisierte Medizin voranzutreiben. Mit seinen vierdimensionalen Analysemethoden tr\u00e4gt das ISAS dazu bei, die Pr\u00e4vention, Fr\u00fchdiagnose und Therapie von Krankheiten zu verbessern. Daf\u00fcr kombiniert das Institut Fachwissen aus Chemie, Biologie, Physik sowie Informatik und setzt beispielsweise Multimethoden-Ans\u00e4tze ein, die komplexe Daten \u00fcber Proteine (Proteomics), Fette (Lipidomics) und Abbauprodukte (Metabolomics) zu einem umfassenden \u00dcberblick \u00fcber krankheitsrelevante Vorg\u00e4nge im K\u00f6rper zusammenf\u00fchren. Es entwickelt nach h\u00f6chsten Industriestandards, in Kooperation mit akademischen Partner*innen, Leitstrukturen und therapeutische Antik\u00f6rper, deren Wirksamkeit in krankheitsrelevanten Modellsystemen gezeigt wurden. Im Bereich der Wirkstoffforschung leisten Taros\u2018 Wissenschaftler*innen einen entscheidenden Beitrag von der Target Validierung bis hin zur Leitstruktur-Optimierung und Selektion von Wirkstoffkandidaten f\u00fcr die klinische Entwicklung. Jungen Unternehmen sowie Start-ups bietet es eine attraktive Infrastruktur in einem optimalen Umfeld, um Ideen, Konzepte sowie F+E-Projekte schnell und umfassend umzusetzen. Im BMZ sind zurzeit knapp 35 Unternehmen aus der Biomedizin, Bioinformatik und Diagnostik angesiedelt. Ein solches Institut kann sich als zentraler Innovationstreiber f\u00fcr die gesamte Gesundheitsforschung positionieren und bringt als physischer Hub und intellektueller Think-Tank Akteur*innen aus Wissenschaft, Politik und Gesellschaft f\u00fcr die \u00dcberwindung von Translationsh\u00fcrden in der Arzneistoffentwicklung zusammen.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Eine weitere Vision im Kompetenzfeld ist die Zusammenarbeit mit allen Deutschen Zentren der Gesundheitsforschung (DZG) sowie hochschulischen und au\u00dferuniversit\u00e4ren Forschungsinstitutionen und der pharmazeutischen Gro\u00dfindustrie
